Transform everyday moments into unforgettable memories
Real Life, Artfully Framed
My approach combines an intimate, documentary style with a calm, friendly experience, allowing you to relax and show up as yourself. Through some guided prompts, I capture the genuine laughter, quiet moments, and beautiful chaos that make your story unique.
Because I'm capturing motion and emotion, not every hair will be in place. You might see a little blur in a hand as it waves, or a crinkle in a nose during a laugh. That is not a flaw. That is life.
I don't Photoshop you into a plastic version of yourself. I edit for mood, color, and nostalgia. When you look at these photos in 20 years, you won't remember that your shirt was slightly wrinkled. You will remember exactly how it felt to be there.
My approach
The Process
Before the session
We start with a Discovery Conversation. I want to know who these pictures are for and what you want them to say, whether that's your brand's authority or an ordinary Tuesday you don't want to forget.
If you're booking this for someone else like a parent, a grandparent, a partner who hates cameras, tell me on the Discovery Conversation. I plan those sessions differently.
Experience
During the session
I am not a director, I am a witness. I use a technique called Directed Action instead of stiff posing. I set the scene to find the best light (the Lifestyle part), then give you prompts like “bake the cake” or “start a tickle fight” and wait for the genuine reaction (the Documentary part). This approach captures real laughter, hands at work, and the beautiful chaos that proves you truly lived the moment.
Delivery
After the session
You won’t wait weeks to see your memories. Sneak peeks arrive within 48 hours. Your final delivery is a Story Gallery curated blending wide environmental shots that set the scene with intimate details.
I don't retouch. If something temporary showed up, a scrape or a small blemish, I clean it up. Past that, I edit for mood and color and leave you looking like yourself.
my philosophy
Years from now
A file on a phone is not an heirloom. Phones get lost, accounts close. Some sessions include a printed object made to be held, hung, and handed down.
I'll help you decide what to print and how to frame it this is part of your service.
Printed heirloom albums or frames are where this work is headed. These photographs are meant to outlast the people in them.
FAQ
How do I choose between The Short Story Session and The Chapter Session?
If you want something quick, simple, and seasonal, choose The Short Story Session. If you want time to settle in, more variety, and a fuller story, choose The Chapter Session.
Is travel included?
Travel within Charlottesville and Richmond is included. Travel outside the area is available by request, starting at $50, with potential increases based on distance.
Where do sessions take place?
We choose a location that fits your story, either outdoors, at home, or somewhere meaningful. I can recommend options in Central Virginia based on the season and the vibe you want.
What if my kids do not cooperate?
That is normal. I do not expect perfect behavior. I use light direction and movement prompts that work with your child’s personality, and I build in space for breaks so we can keep it calm and real.
What if it rains or the weather is bad?
If the forecast is unsafe or miserable, we reschedule. If it is just cloudy, we shoot, because clouds can be beautiful light.
What if someone is sick?
If someone is truly sick, we reschedule. I would rather protect your family and keep the experience enjoyable than push through.
